Thanks for the review. As brief as it is I hope some of the main points really set in to peoples’ minds. The “COULD” possibly help warning is something I couldn’t agree with more and happens to be what concerns me the most. As a neuropharmacologist going on 25+ years now, and researching the field of chronic pain from holistic wellness standpoints (I’m not just a pharmacist, I’m a positive psychology coach and more), I can say this is YET ANOTHER example of hype clearly exceeding data. Nearly all of the anecdotal reports need to be valued on the paper they’re written on because they don’t count squat as far as real evidence goes. Yes the power of the human mind needs to be cultivated as much as possible (and CBD is like any other ‘therapy’ when considering the placebo effect — a good thing in my opinion), but not at the probability of the development of mental and physiological dependence (neither are the same as ‘addiction’ by the way), or the development of tolerance (and EVERY medication, natural or otherwise, shows tolerance at some level). Thus, anyone who is currently taking CBD on a daily basis or is considering trying it should seek PROFESSIONAL advice — not the crap advice from licensed cannabis dispensaries or suppliers of CBD because they have self-professed interests in you buying the products. You said “Which isn’t to say you shouldn’t try it” — I’d completely disagree with this oversimplification. Many people should NOT try it without first learning more and looking seriously at their current mindset, lifestyle, belief system and physical health. Your article is a nice start so please don’t take my comments completely negatively; I’d recommend, though, some of the points be discussed.
